Jacquemart André

guided visit

Jacquemart André an impressive art collection

The Jacquemart André Museum

  • The inspiring, impassioned life of the André and Jacquemart couple.
  • The glamorous dinner parties of the ultra rich in the 19th century, their private mansions, the metamorphosis of Paris under Baron Haussmann.
  • Travels to Egypt, Morocco, Italy, and England…a love for art.
In 1913, the private home of Edouard André, heir to a Protestant banking family, and his wife Nélie Jacquemart, a young painter, was transformed into a museum. Edouard André had begun collecting in 1860, and in 1875 he oversaw the construction of a private residence on Boulevard Haussmann that would house his vast collection. When he met his wife Nélie in 1881, the collection only grew, as, united by the same passion, the couple continued their travels in search for the rare and beautiful.
