Aligre market tour : a local parisian market

  • One of the oldest market of Paris : open 6 days out of 7, people go there for its atmosphere as much as for shopping
  • One of the favourite markets of the Parisians : a neighbourhood market with a provincial look
  • The Halle Beauvau : architectural jewel built in 1843 and listed Historical Monument thanks to its cobbled floor and its fountain
  • 3 markets in one : a covered market dedicated to food, an open one for fruits and vegetables and a flea market

The charming marché d’Aligre is located between Bastille square and Nation square, in the 12th district. Opened in the 18th century in Faubourg Saint Antoine where lived an important population of laborers and craftmen who needed to eat. In those days, people used to say you could find there the carpenters and cabinet makers who made the most beautiful furniture in the world. But Faubourg Saint Antoine is also the « crater from which escaped the revolutionary lava most of the time. »

During this morning tour with your guide you will immerse yourself in the warm atmosphere of a local market. After experiencing coulourful and perfumed hurly burly from these stalls of chesse, delicatessen of all kinds, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables and flowers you will be taking a seat at a terrasse for a coffee or a little glass of white wine depending on your yen and enjoy the Aligre show.
