D Day landing beaches

  • Normandy, its farmlands, beaches, and towns: bucolic scenery as a backdrop to tragic events.
  • The Great War: the origins of the conflict in Europe, the members of the Axis, the conference of Québec, operation Overlord.
  • The Battle of Normandy, D-Day.
  • Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the American cemetery, the artificial harbor of Arromanches: sites full of memories.
At 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 6, 1944, more than 170,000 Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy in an assault that would lead to the liberation of France from German occupation and eventually to the end of WWII. Today the site is a place of reflection and remembrance dedicated to those who perished on that fateful day.
