Le Havre or LH, nickname given by its inhabitants as an allusion to LA and Los Angeles, is the biggest city in Normandy. Founded by King François I in 1517, the harbour developped quickly thanks to the trade with the New World and North Africa. A race between corsairs and shipowners started then to explore the wealth located on the other side of the Atlantic. The peak was tragically stopped by the hail of bombs that fell onto the city at the end of World War II.

During your guided tour of Le Havre you will discover the creations of 2 famous architects of the 20th century : church St Joseph and the City Hall by Auguste Perret, Le Volcan by Oscar Niemeyer. Its UNESCO-listed perimeter offers large avenues for strolls and bright perspectives, features that probably seduced the impressionist and fauvist painters.
